You're wearing a what!? Shirt to skirt & back again.

Who out there has their 1 absolute favorite clothing item that you just adore & it screams your name?  I have a top that is just that for me, you may actually recognize it.
This amazing top is my favorite article of clothing.  When I saw it, I had to have it!  I didn't care that the smallest size available was a 1x.  I was going to buy it & I was going to figure out how to make it work for me.... And that I did!  If you aren't sure what I am talking about with recognizing it, maybe this will spark it for you.
This shirt is also my logo!  BUT, not only is it a shirt & the whole inspiration for the name of my blog & business, but it is also a skirt for me.  And that is what I am going to share with you today.

I take these 3 items, & turn them into a skirt.....
WHY do I do this?  When you love something so much, you want to wear it often, but how fun is it to wear the same combination over & over again?  I personally do not like wearing the exact same combo really ever.  I always have to mix it up.

Here is a pretty basic way to wear this top.
Now excuse the boots.  I normally wear my more casual knee high boots with this, but I wanted to change it up, but I am seeing clearly here that these do not work nearly as well as my other boots, so I will stick to the other ones.  The common more casual way to wear this is with leggings or skinny jeans.

The dressier way is with a pencil skirt & chunky belt!

But back earlier this year, I had a Photoshoot with a professional photographer through Dressing Your Truth & I needed to bring my favorite outfit.  Now, I had already worn my favorite tank in a video recording with the Dressing Your Truth creator Carol Tuttle,(you can see that video in the link) so I didn't want to wear the same thing, but that outfit represents me so well, so I came up with the idea to wear the tank as a skirt & give the outfit a whole new look.
Here is the shirt as a skirt for the Photoshoot.
And here I mixed it up again for a Dressing Your Truth Event (picture with one of my DYT friends that I finally got to meet in person, Jenny Collins.  Check out her fab outfit!)

So here is how I do it, it is real rocket science ;-)
I start out with a little short slip.  (I normally don't wear leggings, but for modesty purposes, I am wearing them here.). The reason for the slip is because the back of the tank is lace & sheer.  The slip acts as a liner & another thing to tick under.
Now here I decided to add another tank underneath it to add depth & length.  All you do is tuck it into the slip, your underwear or even a Spanx type underclothing to help hold the straps in.
Do the exact same thing with the second tank & tuck it in nice & tight.
You can see on the sides here how you can see the arm holes.  All you do is pull your shirt down over it or
Add a belt over it.  The belt is great because it holds it all in place, but I do like to have my belt a bit higher
which is what I am showing here in this last picture.

So there you have it, my deepest, darkest secrets of how I look at my clothes in different ways to create numerous different outfits.  My favorite thing is when people tell me how much they love my skirt & I get to see their jaw drop when I tell them it is 2 tank tops tucked in to create a skirt.

Now I dare you to not step into your closet & start trying on your tops as skirts to see if they work ;-)

I heart this tank top & all of the amazing outfits I have been able to create with it by mixing it up.  Go try it out, I dare you ;-)
